| DESCRIPTION |
Non hydraulic haired Course Stuff is normally mixed in the ratio of 3:1 or 2.5:1, sand to lime, using our standard Lime Putty slaked at our works and stored for a minimum of 30 days. Horse, goat or yak hair is carefully teased into the mix so that when a trowel of mortar is picked up a "beard" of hair should be visible along the edge of the trowel ie at least 20 hairs per inch. |

Backing coats on masonary and lathwork both internal and external. |
| SHELF LIFE |
Course Stuff matures with age and as long as it is kept in a sealed container or bags there is no upper time limit however once hair is added it should be used within 3 weeks. |

| OBSERVATIONS |
The success of lime based mortars depends greatly on the tradesman been familiar with them and understanding that these mortars react very differently from modern cementitious mortars. Particular attention is needed towards, 1) the control of drying and hardening of the mortar, 2)protection from frost and heat, 3) a basic understanding of where and when these mortars are suitable |
